Black Hills
Cattle is located in Augusta, Montana at the
base of the Rocky Mountain Front. We raise
Registered Angus, Registered SimAngus and
club calves.
Right Time,
602C, Rainmaker, Pay weight, Yellowstone,
Freedom and Stout sire the majority of the
Angus cowherd.
The SimAngus cowherd is
mostly sired by sons of Meyer Ranch 734 and
a few select daughters of Sand Ranch Hand.
Our cattle run out on the range and
are not pampered. The cows run in the hills
from the first of June until around the
first of January. From then on the cows are
fed hay and cake with salt and mineral for
their supplements.
The Angus
and SimAngus bulls are sold annually in the
Birdtail Ranch Angus bull sale. This auction
is held the second Saturday in March at
the Broken O Ranch sale facility,
Augusta, MT
Both Angus and SimAngus females
are sold private treaty at the ranch.
Some Angus females are sold annually at
the Rocky Mountain Angus Sale held in
Ogden, UT every November. Other Angus
females are sold at the Montana Supreme
Female Sale held in Columbus, MT during
December. Angus females
are also sold in the Foundation Female
Sale at the National Western Stock Show
in Denver, CO.
Our
involvement in the Rocky Mountain Angus
Futurity and the Western Trails Breeders
Group has been a wonderful experience.
